SERVICES

Pre-hunt Services & Incoming Trophies

Pre-hunt assistance is available; shipping tags, licenses, permits, airfare etc.

Tags.
We will provide shipping tags to you at no charge. These tags are designed to eliminate any mix-up or confusion in shipping. The tags identify each animal to its owner. A tag should be placed on each skull and each skin and/or piece. Only by doing so can you be assured that your trophies are your own and will reach their final destination. Request your tags at least two weeks prior to your departure date.

HELPFUL HINT: After your day of hunting check on the skinning and preparation of your trophies and see that they are properly cared for. This is a good time to insure that all your skins and skulls have been properly tagged for shipping.

Permits

When planning to hunt any species that require a CITES permit, you must acquire this import permit before your trophies enter the U.S. We strongly suggest you do this immediately after you return home from your hunt to avoid having the permit expire. Please make copies of your CITES permit and send your original to Phares Taxidermy, Inc. We will need the original for obtaining and clearing your trophies by customs. You will need to leave a copy of your permit with your outfitter as it will be required to successfully export your trophies from the country of origin.

If you have any questions regarding permits, call U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service at
1-800-344-WILD, or visit there web site at:
www.fws.gov.
Application forms can be downloaded from this site.

A CDC permit will also be required to import any primate trophies (monkeys and baboons). This permit can be obtained free from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Georgia. This center can be reached at 404-498-2260 or online at
www.cdc.gov.

Shipping

Phares Taxidermy is licensed by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service to import hunting trophies. We are also licensed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to receive restricted animals.
We recommend that hunting trophies be shipped to us from overseas via Chicago as the port of entry. Our broker is very familiar with all procedures involving clearing trophies with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Customs.

Freight & Clearing Charges

Each trophy shipment from overseas will be subject to air freight charges to get to the U.S. port of entry. Usually trophies are shipped collect but sometimes they can be prepaid.
We will notify you with any shipping charges due and arrangements to pay these charges will be made at that time. Other fees may include storage and handling charges associated with the airline after the trophies arrive. There will be a fee from our customs broker to clear the trophies with The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and The U.S. Department of Agriculture and Customs. After the trophies have cleared these three entities, and all charges have been paid to the airline handling the shipment, the trophies are then shipped by truck from the port of entry to our studio.
There is also a charge for the truck freight to be assessed upon receipt of the shipment. All freight, storage, and custom broker fees for incoming trophies are to be paid by the client.

Deposit & Mounting Instructions

Once your trophies are cleared, they are shipped directly to our studio. A 50% deposit and mounting instructions are required on all mounts before any work will begin.

We reserve the right to refuse any specimen we determine to be of unsuitable quality for mounting.

Custom woodworking.
We use a custom woodworking shop that can create any type of cabinetry that is desired, ranging from simple frames to fully functional cabinets and dioramas.
We also offer on-site trophy installation.

Custom animal rugmaking.
Now offering custom rugmaking. All rugs are made using quality materials and either hand sewn or machine stitched with great detail. Zebra, bear, coyote, etc.
Also wholesale rugmaking available. Call for price lists.

Finished Trophies

Most mounts are completed within six to nine months from the time we receive them and they have been cleared by USDA, Fish and Wildlife and a 50% deposit received. Completed hunting trophies are normally shipped by truck. This will require the trophies to be crated. Crating charges will be extra and will vary with the size of the piece.
These charges can be estimated before work is started.

Reasonable local delivery available. We also offer on site trophy installation and custom dioramas.
